The plant provides electricity for the whole country and helps prevent floods as well as regulating water for agricultural purposes of the Red River Delta. It was built in November 1979 and inaugurated in December 1994. The plant has a capacity of 1,920 megawatts with eight generators which were set up in tunnels under the mountain.
